Instytut Technologii Elektronowej

The Institute was established in Warsaw in 1966 by the Council of Ministers as a unit of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1970 the Institute was transformed into the Industrial Institute responsible to the Ministry of Industry. At the same time it became a member of the newly established Scientific and Production Centre of Microelectronics (Naukowo Produkcyjne Centrum Mikroelektroniki CEMI). The additional task of the Institute involved then the development of new devices and semiconductor technologies, their implementation into batch production and design supervision over this production.

Since 1991 the Institute has been an independent research institute responsible to the Ministry of Economy. The main aim of the Institute’s operations is to conduct research at the world level and develop advanced semiconductor technologies used in innovative products.

The mission of the Institute is to conduct basic research and research applied in electronics and physics of solids as well as develop, implement and popularise cutting-edge micro- and nanotechnologies and their applications in photonics as well as micro- and nanoelectronics.
