Politechnika Warszawska

The tradition of the Warsaw University of Technology – the largest and the oldest technical academy in Poland – dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. The year 1826 is considered to be the date of establishment of technical education in Warsaw. It is the year of founding the Preparatory School for the Polytechnic Institute. The initiator of the school and the author of the curriculum was Stanisław Staszic, involved with the Commission on Religious Affairs and Public Enlightenment, a versatile scholar and education activist.

The University of Technology gathers the largest in Poland scientific and research potential in the area of technical science. The largest number of scientific papers recognised both in Poland and abroad originate from the University. The rank of the University of Technology can be confirmed by many cooperation agreements signed with other universities, exchange programmes for students and staff as well as common research programmes.
